When I was 10 years old, I was listening to a description of life in villages in Turkey, and I remember a deep yearning welling up inside me, and I said, "I want to visit every village on earth!"
I then found myself visiting villages and living in them without really thinking about it. But in the back of my mind, I was developing a plan. I wanted to collect the stories, music, art, scenes and faces of the villages of the world.
I recently added another challenge: to interview someone in each village and ask them what one thing they thought we could and should do which would be most important in saving earth and in saving humanity.
And I believe that, if we are actually going to save our earth and humanity, we need to do it soon.
So, if you, dear reader, feel the call to assist in the World Villages Project, please do, and contact me with your interview results, songs, stories and photos. I will include them here.
Here are the stories, views, people, offerings and interviews from villages I have visited thus far.
As the World Villages Project has unfolded, a new awareness has been born. In visiting villages, I have become aware that I really need to spend much more time in each place to really connect with the people and to really get to know about life there. A big emphasis of the project has become that of learning about people's dreams and partnering with them to help them fulfill them. As we live together, more awareness and consciousness grows in each of us and we find that we are able to take deeper approaches to becoming helpful in each community.
